Lincoln Bed
The father of the current owner of the Old Slave House purchased this
bed in 1946 from descendants of Gen. Michael Kelly Lawler (John Hart Crenshaw's son-in-law).
The bed is supposed to have been part of the original furniture located in the southeast front
room of the Old Slave House, the room that the family remembers as hosting Abraham Lincoln one
night following a political debate and reception. That event likely took place in September 1840.
Details
The fine workmanship of the furniture can be seen in the picture on the right.
